MATTHEW PAGNOZZI
PERSONAL
I grew up and have spent the vast majority of my life working and living in the Eastern Maine area. My children, 2 boys, were born and raised here and have always been my world. My significant other is a teacher, mother, and my perfect travel companion and confidant. I have a less than efficient 2 year old guard dog who often needs protection from random boxes and plastic bags, but regardless is still a valued member of the household. My home is right here in the Bangor-Brewer area which is why my business preference is to know your name and to treat you like you are my neighbor - because you are.
EDUCATION & BAR
I attended the University of Maine in Orono and graduated in 1998 with a B.S. degree in Education. After a successful career teaching young people I felt the time was right to challenge myself in a new profession that continued to involve helping and serving my community. I made the decision to enter the legal profession and enrolled as a non-traditional student at the University of South Dakota. In addition to my studies on campus, I was accepted into programs that allowed me to study law all over the world - Comparative Law in both China and Europe. I also had the honor of being accepted as an intern with a well respected attorney on the island of Maui. With some good old fashion Maine work ethic and determination I completed my program in just 2 1/2 years, one of only two candidates to finish early, earning my Juris Doctor in Law in 2012. After school I returned to Maine and have since been admitted to practice law in the State of Maine as well as in the United States District Court.
AREAS OF LAW
I strongly believe in the power of fresh starts and that is why I have chosen to focus on the areas of Bankruptcy, Family, and Small Business law. Bankruptcy law allows me the opportunity to help many individuals start fresh again financially and often times emotionally as well. There are many reasons people experience economical hardship and find themselves in a position where the ends seem like they will never meet. Bankruptcy is one of the means that may be available to you to break the cycle and take back control of your life and I will guide you through the process. Family Law gives me the chance to help protect my clients best interests through what is often one of the toughest times a person will ever go through. In such an emotionally charged enviornment an attorney can be essential to securing your best interests. Whether it is a divorce, mediation, child support or modification of terms I will be there to help. Small Business law allows me the wonderful opportunity to help start ups channel their enthusiasm and energy into making the right decsions regarding entity choices, developing appropriate decisions regarding structure and taxation so that the business is put into a stronger position to be successful in the long run. Additionally I am available to provide legal help and representation in the everyday operations of the business.
